About the Role

As a per diem Emergency Veterinarian at VEG, you will be passionate about helping people and their pets during critical times. You will handle a wide range of emergency cases, from routine to complex surgeries, and treat diverse animal species. Responsibilities

Answer medical questions over the phone
See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes
Gather patient signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam findings
Conduct physical examinations of animals
Perform diagnostic measures including ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
Diagnose pet conditions and create diagnostic and therapeutic plans
Communicate diagnoses and treatment options directly with customers
Prepare and present estimates to customers
Create and review medical records for accuracy
Explain the value of tests and treatments to customers and address concerns
Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
Perform endoscopic procedures
Educate customers on aftercare and preventative measures

Requirements

A DVM or equivalent degree
Experience in emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (soft tissue) and endoscopy
Ability to thrive in team-oriented environments
Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance
Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals
