About the Role

The Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team is a new, strategic initiative focused on winning high-value AI opportunities by delivering outcomes. As a Deployment Strategist, you will be a founding team member, embedded with strategic customers from sales through to a production-ready solution, acting as the product manager for the customer's problem.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales to perform deep discovery, map customer organizations, quantify business value, and define pilot scope, MVP, success criteria, and timeline.
  • Author PRDs, prioritize engineering backlogs, manage scope, and act as the primary hands-on QA tester.
  • Translate business requirements into clear data, integration, security, and operational requirements for engineers.
  • Drive the FDE build team through agile delivery, manage stakeholders, and unblock technical or organizational issues.
  • Lead technical discovery and design reviews, understanding customer data flows, integrations, platform constraints, and operational environments.
  • Own the 'Day 0' launch, manage the war room, and drive the solution to full adoption by capturing user feedback and iterating.
  • Ensure production readiness across data quality, testing, security, performance, and operations.
  • Diagnose and drive resolution of production issues.
  • Scope ongoing maintenance plans and create customer documentation/training.
  • Identify next high-value FDE engagements and leverage trusted advisor status.
  • Codify reusable solution patterns and bring field insights back to Product and Engineering.

Requirements

  • Typically 7+ years of experience delivering complex, customer-facing data, analytics, AI, or software engagements, or equivalent experience as a founder or technical builder.
  • Experience helping deliver data, machine learning, or generative AI systems into production.
  • Understanding of integration, operational, and adoption challenges in real environments.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology company, forward-deployed organization, or leading consultancy is valuable.
  • Enjoy working onsite with customers (often 25-50%, sometimes higher) to drive delivery.
  • Proficient in at least one language such as Python, Java, or SQL.
  • Ability to explore data, work in notebooks, read and review code and pipelines, build or adapt prototypes, and contribute meaningfully to troubleshooting.
  • Understand modern data and AI architectures, including cloud platforms, data pipelines, data models, distributed systems, APIs, security and governance, machine learning, and generative AI application patterns.
  • Ability to lead architecture discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and pressure-test technical decisions.
  • Strong executive presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and help senior stakeholders make difficult decisions.
  • Ability to define what to build and why, write strong product requirements, prioritize engineering work, manage scope, and lead complex agile software projects from an ambiguous problem to a measurable outcome.
