About the Role

Establish and lead PLACE's newly created Project Management Office, designing systems, tools, and reporting cycles for real-time program oversight. This founding role involves assessing current project processes and proposing improvements for a more consistent and supported project delivery across a distributed, remote-first team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead back-office project operations: tracking, reporting, and resourcing across PLACE's project portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain registers for project risks, issues, dependencies and decisions, and embed a consistent approach to escalating and resolving them.
  • Work closely with PLACE's Evaluation and Learning Lead to ensure project processes and reporting align with PLACE's Theory of Change and broader evaluation and learning approach.
  • Build strong working relationships across PLACE's distributed, remote-first team.
  • Establish and implement systems to monitor project delivery, ensuring activities are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Help establish an external panel of specialists and experts who can be engaged for contracted project work as needed.
  • Adapt the PMO function as PLACE's structure continues to settle following the recent restructure.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in project management or PMO functions, ideally within a remote or distributed team.
  • Strong diagnostic skills; assess before prescribing.
  • Collaborative, comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across a distributed team.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and managing competing priorities with a proactive, adaptable approach.
  • Ability to simplify complexity and make insights accessible to non-project management specialists.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to PLACE's vision, values and principles, particularly around community leadership and shared decision-making.
  • If you believe you have the attributes to do the job but don't match every point on the job ad, we welcome and encourage your application.
