About the Role
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students, providing personalized service throughout their college search and application process. This role serves as a primary point of contact for students, families, and partners, representing the college at recruitment events and outreach activities to support institutional enrollment goals.
Responsibilities
- Recruit prospective students through individual outreach, high school visits, college fairs, community events, information sessions, open houses, and other recruitment activities.
- Communicate regularly with prospective and admitted students through phone calls, email, text messaging, virtual meetings, and in-person.
- Follow up with prospective and admitted students to encourage application completion, enrollment, and attendance.
- Assist students in navigating the admissions process from initial inquiry through enrollment.
- Review applications and supporting documents for completeness and eligibility in accordance with institutional policies.
- Evaluate academic transcripts and other application materials as assigned.
- Communicate admission decisions and next steps to prospective students.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in the college's student information and customer relationship management systems.
- Participate in enrollment management meetings and contribute to strategies designed to improve recruitment, conversion, and enrollment outcomes.
- Collaborate with Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, Student Success, Marketing, and other campus departments to provide prospective students with comprehensive and consistent information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors required
- Master's Degree preferred in Student Personnel Services, Education, Occupational/Career Education or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in higher education or sales, with an emphasis on providing high-quality customer service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information/CRM systems.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as required for assigned recruitment responsibilities.
- Experience with running various platforms and applications to obtain data that drives daily activity to meet college enrollment goals.
- Ability to read and understand transcripts and have a general understanding of how to use Excel to calculate a grade point average (GPA).
- Arithmetic and basic algebra skills are required.
- Ability to think critically and problem solve with student success at top of mind.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, data-driven, and goal-oriented, with ability to multi-task.
