About the Role

TD is seeking individuals to develop new solutions and features for engineering programs and projects, supporting business needs while adhering to architecture standards. This role involves analyzing technical requirements, collaborating with technology partners, and ensuring solutions meet performance and business objectives. The position also requires participation in quality management, code reviews, and incident management, providing technical expertise to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new solutions as required for engineering programs and projects within assigned area.
  • Develop new features and perform unit/component tests for new application development initiatives.
  • Support business inquiries and activities through small enhancements and break/fix implementations.
  • Perform peer code reviews.
  • Work with technology partners to ensure configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
  • Analyze technical requirements to recommend pragmatic engineering solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions meet technical direction, requirements, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals.
  • Monitor product lifecycles, ensuring specifications and functionality support business objectives.
  • Undertake re-development where required.
  • Document and verify system components, applications, system infrastructure, security, integration, operability, and engineering-related architecture designs.
  • Participate in quality management reviews, including reviews of designs and prototypes.
  • Create and maintain quality code, ensuring defect-free programming consistent with standards.
  • Provide code maintenance and support during testing cycles and post-production deployment.
  • Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports and outages, and perform impact assessments.
  • Facilitate internal and external communication throughout incident resolution.
  • Participate in identifying and recommending development/testing solutions/tools.
  • Assist in the development/maintenance of comprehensive processes for issue prevention.
  • Participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents.
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies related to software engineering activities.
  • Ensure programs/policies/practices are well-managed, meet business needs, and comply with requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders to proactively prevent defects.
  • Seek and support continuous improvement and automation opportunities within the engineering practice.
  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize cost and provide recommendations for cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to quality, standards compliance, reusability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Support Operational Readiness Reviews and gating/review sign-offs for solution design.
  • Monitor service, productivity, and assess efficiency levels within own function.
  • Implement continuous process/performance improvements.
  • Lead/facilitate and/or implement actions/remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues.
  • Manage relationships within and across various business lines and functions.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Protect the interests of the organization by identifying and managing risks.
  • Escalate non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Assess potential impacts of emerging issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control.
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, supporting a positive work environment.
  • Provide thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for quality engineering best practices.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.
  • Keep current on emerging trends/developments and grow knowledge of the business, tools, and techniques.
  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities.
  • Engage in cross-training within own team.
  • Keep others informed about project status/progress and relevant information.
  • Actively mentor and enable team members by sharing knowledge and leveraging engineering best practices.
  • Support the team by providing guidance and proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop relationships with internal and external business partners/stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a fair, positive, and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank.
  • Perform complex to difficult technical tasks independently.
  • Develop program specifications.
  • Adapt, integrate, code, test, and debug programs.
  • Execute programming tasks.
  • Use existing procedures to solve routine problems.
  • Make limited exceptions to procedures.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
  • 3-5 years relevant experience

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, various programming languages, processes, and procedures
