About the Role
Operate professional broadcast equipment for a live News show, maintaining WPIX and FCC quality control standards. Requires thorough knowledge of broadcast video and audio theory and its application within a Television environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate audio (A1), audio assist (A2), video, robotics, video server ingest/playback, satellite-microwave receive equipment, routing switchers, and video/audio signal test measurement devices.
- Operate a full pedestal studio camera, jib, and/or handheld camera.
- Digitize audio/video using Windows and Mac-based software from field, library, or baseband feeds.
- Collaborate with the director and studio staff to coordinate production activities.
- Work with set designers to determine production needs and support set execution.
- Build, decorate, and maintain sets, and provide props as required.
- Assist with the installation, operation, and maintenance of audio recording equipment.
- Provide camera, audio, and lighting support for productions.
- Support digital media productions.
- Maintain, organize, and store production equipment, and assist with studio upkeep.
Requirements
- College graduate or equivalent technical training.
- Three years of related job experience.
- Ability to perform minor lifting and walking.
- Ability to carry 50 pounds of equipment daily.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to execute commands based upon aural directives.
- High visual and aural acuity.
- Data entry using a keyboard.
- Ability to work closely with on-air talent and studio guests with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines and time constraints.
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to make quick decisions.
- Ability to create packages (stories) that are both content coherent and technically accurate.
- Strong understanding of audio and video production theory, broadcast workflows, and related technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of both Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Working knowledge of FCC regulations and technical broadcast standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production staff, and engineering teams.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
