About the Role

The Business Representative will join the team that oversees the LORT, CAT, and Dinner Theatre contract, as well as BTE and a number of special agreements. This role involves handling collective bargaining matters, overseeing contract administration, and expanding Equity's strategic interests.

Responsibilities

  • Handles matters related to collective bargaining in assigned areas, including negotiation of contracts and processing of concession requests and appeals.
  • Oversees administration of collective bargaining agreements in assigned areas.
  • Processes opening and closing of each production or season, ensuring compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.
  • Checks contracts for accuracy and compliance to Agreement(s).
  • Files and processes claims, rulings, and/or grievances on behalf of actors and stage managers.
  • Provides front-line contract administration assistance to employees in the workplace.
  • Responds to questions from members, prospective members, and employers regarding Equity and contract matters.
  • Represents Equity at first rehearsals, disciplinary meetings, and other company meetings, in-person and remotely.
  • Prepares materials relevant to NLRB charges, arbitrations, etc.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to expand Equity’s strategic interests.
  • Interacts with and supports committees and community groups.
  • Engages proactively and consciously in anti-racism and multicultural work.
  • Serves as staff point-person for assigned governance committees.
  • Assists members with urgent workplace issues, including emergency hotline coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as Equity determines is necessary or desirable to meet its organizational needs.

Experience Level

  • Two (2) years related experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM preferred
  • Negotiating skills preferred

Salary/Compensations

  • $1240- $1280 per week
