About the Role
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant to join its healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of emergency medicine and be able to provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating and treating patients with emergent medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries
- Performing comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
- Interpreting and correlating laboratory and diagnostic procedures
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as blood work, X-rays, or EKGs
- Implementing therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when necessary
- Performing procedures such as suturing, wound care, and administering immunizations
- Documenting all patient care services and monitoring patient response to therapy
- Communicating with other healthcare professionals, and supervising physicians, as needed to coordinate optimal patient care
- Providing patient education about treatment plans and prognosis
- Communicating effectively with the clinical team to ensure total delivery of quality care
- Participating in medical staff educational programs and meetings as needed
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Must possess a current, unrestricted Physician Assistant New York State license
- Must possess active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or be eligible for registration
- Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll
- BLS or ACLS required
- PALS required
- Infection control certification required
- Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to make decisions in high-pressure situations
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office
