About the Role

Responsibilities
- Assists in the care and preparation of surgical patients.
- Functions as a member of the sterile team in donning gowns and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and issuing instruments to surgeons.
- Sets up tables, instruments, and supplies for plastic surgery operations.
- Assists in preparation and draping of patient and operative areas.
- Prepares and passes instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed in the operative procedure and maintains a correct count of the same.
- Assists in maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Cleans and stocks storage room as required.
- Assists with table equipment, positioning patients, and application of plaster dressings.
- Prepares and maintains the sterile field for the surgical procedure.
- Assists in discharging patients from the Operating Room Suite.
- Follows established HIPPA policies and procedures at all times.
- Assumes accountability and responsibility for attendance and timely completion of mandatory training programs, unit specific requirements (i.e. BLS, ACLS, Surgical Assistant Certification) and unit meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting required.
- Surgical Assistant Certification required.
- Holds and maintains an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds at times.
- Good motor coordination required for rapid and accurate movements of the body and hand in response to visual and audio stimuli in the Operating Room.

- 1-2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting
