About the Role

The Marketing Assistant supports the marketing team in delivering content and marketing across ASI’s platforms, including website, social media, and email communications. This role collaborates across departments to organize marketing plans and timelines, aiming to deliver engaging campaigns for various audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of ASI programs, initiatives, audiences, and community to inform content development.
  • Participate in the ideation, storyboarding, writing, and production of multimedia content for social media, web, advertisements, or other channels.
  • Serve as a resource for content ideas and help execute them to meet audience needs.
  • Act as a creative thinker and champion of innovation.
  • Perform daily upkeep of ASI’s website, including updating copy and images, populating event information, and managing site functions.
  • Assist with ASI’s blog, supporting museum initiatives through content development, research, writing, and posting.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop weekly email communications using Constant Contact.
  • Source content and prioritize promotion of events or activities with input from various departments.
  • Maintain subscriber lists and coordinate list growth.
  • Ensure email communications reflect ASI’s brand identity and voice.
  • Support daily communication efforts via social media channels for ASI, the ASI museum Store, and FIKA Café.
  • Generate content, post, promote posts or events, monitor, report, and analyze social media performance.
  • Participate in social media planning meetings to ideate and prepare content.
  • Maintain a social media calendar.
  • Ensure ASI’s social media reflects and supports organizational initiatives, brand identity, and voice.
  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and algorithm adjustments to optimize engagement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to DEAI through continuous personal development and inclusive behaviors.
  • Work to ensure equitable and representative experiences for all visitors and program participants.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in journalism/marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of successful nonprofit communications with a focus on social media and multi-channel marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of current social platforms and trends.
  • Understanding of social algorithms and utilization of metrics and data to inform content design and delivery.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Professional attitude and ability to warmly engage a wide variety of people.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Keep current on industry trends, tools, and services.
  • Experience with Constant Contact or similar email marketing system.
  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management system.
  • Graphic design or digital media coursework.
  • Experience with tools such as Hootsuite, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or interest in Nordic cultures.
