About the Role
Edgerton Square, a DePaul Community Residence-Single Room Occupancy (CR-SRO) Program, is hiring a part-time Dietary Assistant to support the dietary director and cook in ensuring timely and effective operations of the dietary department.
Responsibilities
- Respond to resident requests promptly and courteously, ensuring all needs are met and providing a positive dining experience.
- Handle all food dishes and utensils according to agency standards and health/safety regulations, including sanitizing service ware, trays, and carts.
- Maintain neat and sanitary work and storage areas.
- Manage proper waste disposal and maintain sanitary waste receptacles, dumpster areas, and department trash cans.
- Sweep and mop work areas and the dining room.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning of pots, pans, trays, and all dishware in the kitchen.
- Set up and break down hot and cold tables before and after each meal.
- Ensure all food utensils are readily available for each meal.
- Maintain cleanliness of all service areas, including hot, cold, beverage, and dishwashing stations.
- Assist cooks with the preparation and serving of all meals and desserts.
- Ensure the security of all dietary items and prevent loss.
- Follow all food safety protocols when storing and disposing of leftover food.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-services.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations for self, residents, and staff, wearing suitable and safe attire.
- Perform any other duties necessary for the effective operation of the programs.
Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Skills
- Food service experience is desirable.
