About the Role

Deployment Strategy Leads own the people and the quality bar behind ValonOS deployments. You are a specialist in a deployment domain, and you build, coach, and hold accountable a team of 3-10 people, guiding them across the entire customer journey from contract signature through go-live to adoption. This role combines aspects of management, deployment operation, and quality control, with the team's outcomes being your direct responsibility. You will stay closely connected to the work and your team to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Owns a deployment domain end-to-end, building specialist depth and serving as the standard-bearer for quality.
  • Manages and coaches 5-10 Deployment Strategists, running the learning loop and sharpening their judgment.
  • Stays accountable for the full customer journey, from contract to go-live to adoption.
  • Stays close enough to the work to catch quality problems early by reviewing configurations, attending client conversations, and analyzing data.
  • Raises the bar on the team's craft, focusing on better decisions, faster learning loops, stronger client trust, and sharper individual contributors.
  • Translates information upward and outward to senior client leaders, Valon's product and engineering teams, and direct reports.
  • Builds and extends DeploymentOS, our internal knowledge layer, to facilitate knowledge sharing and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Track record of managing teams (3+ direct reports) in operating roles, strategy consulting, banking, investing, or other high-stakes, ambiguous environments.
  • Deep comfort owning a specific domain and building real expertise there.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative horsepower, with the ability to decompose ambiguous problems and coach others.
  • Practical comfort with technical tools such as SQL, Python, or AI tools.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency, including experience working with coding agents, building small tools, or restructuring workflows around AI.
  • Clear, calibrated communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior client leaders.
  • Ownership maturity for both outcomes and people, including the ability to move quickly, make decisions with incomplete information, coach through mistakes, and stay accountable.
  • Experience managing teams in high-stakes, ambiguous environments.
  • Willingness to stay close to the actual work.
  • Ability to manage people and own outcomes.
  • Experience building a team's judgment, not just its headcount.
  • Restless around ambiguity in work and in managing people through it.
  • Self-taught new tools as the work demanded it.
  • Comfortable being both a manager and extremely low-level in the same day.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with executives, operators, engineers, clients, and reports without changing the substance of thinking.
  • Cares about building a durable team and body of work.
  • Not looking for a management lane focused on process and reporting.
  • Not preferring to oversee from a distance.
  • Not uncomfortable with technical ambiguity, data messiness, or the tools used daily.
  • Not wanting a role where people management and deployment ownership are neatly separated.
  • Not looking for generic enterprise SaaS management work.
  • Prior experience as a Deployment Strategist or similar end-to-end deployment/implementation ownership role is a plus.
  • Background in financial services, healthcare, government, infrastructure, or another regulated, operationally intense industry is a plus.
