About the Role

Mastercard's AI and Data teams set direction, build shared capabilities, and work side-by-side with cross-functional teams to scale AI and data responsibly. This team focuses on insight, accuracy, scalability, and impact, delivering intelligent solutions to improve decision-making and customer experience. They build models that analyze large datasets, detect fraud, personalize customer experiences, and generate economic insights.

Responsibilities

• Be a member of a high-performing team of data science and AI professionals.
• Work on AI projects including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining using Python, SQL, or R.
• Help develop and evaluate predictive models focusing on accuracy, explainability, and responsible AI practices.
• Be exposed to various phases of the data science and AI lifecycle from data exploration and feature engineering through model development, validation, and deployment.
• Help solve challenges that cut across products, regions, and customer needs, such as building AI systems for commerce, developing shared data platforms, improving data discoverability, advancing AI deployment, and supporting new AI ideas.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Northeastern University in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field with a graduation date between Dec 2027 – June 2028.
• Exposure to statistics, probability, machine learning concepts, and data analysis techniques.
• Experience working with data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn, or similar tools).
• Familiarity with data visualization and storytelling concepts to communicate insights effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in exploring datasets, identifying patterns, and interpreting results using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Students or recent graduates in the US on an F1 visa (including those with CPT or OPT authorization) are not eligible for this role.
• Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
• Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
• Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
• Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings.
