About the Role
This hybrid role within the Portfolio Operations group involves executing daily operations functions and engineering automation and AI-enabled improvements. The primary focus is custodian reconciliation, with support for corporate actions, pricing oversight, and class actions. The role requires collaboration with various teams and hands-on building of automation and AI tooling.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile investment accounting records to custodian banks using Electra Reconciliation, owning exceptions end-to-end by researching root causes and driving items to closure.
- Support core Portfolio Operations functions including corporate actions, pricing oversight, class actions, and broker oversight.
- Prepare monthly client reports to specified deadlines, including customized reporting.
- Provide backup coverage and surge support during peak workload periods and complex events.
- Analyze workflows across Portfolio Operations to identify opportunities for automation and AI-enabled efficiency and risk reduction.
- Define metrics to measure the impact of automation and AI improvements over time.
- Contribute to the development of future state reconciliation strategy, including potential new vendor selection.
- Design, build, and maintain AI-assisted workflows using approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and workflow automation platforms.
- Train and refine automation and AI tools to support repeatable tasks, and establish validation, monitoring, and quality-control processes for their outputs.
- Collaborate with the AI Working Group, Technology, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure appropriate governance.
- Act as a department champion for AI, supporting the broader Investment Operations AI strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; computer science, information systems, engineering, finance, or accounting preferred.
- Proficiency with Python for data manipulation, scripting, and workflow automation (e.g., pandas, API integrations, file/data parsing) required.
- Proficiency with SQL, including writing queries and joins to extract and analyze data across operational and accounting data sets.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in investment operations, reconciliation, or a related financial operations function preferred.
- Experience with portfolio reconciliation and accounting systems (Electra, Eagle STAR, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes through automation or scripting.
- Exposure to AI tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or workflow automation platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent judgment, high integrity, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Adherence to the Firm’s security policies and Code of Ethics.
