About the Role
This senior executive role leads Sun Life Global Investments (SLGI)’s product strategy, product development, market positioning, and go-to-market effectiveness. The role will set the direction for SLGI’s product portfolio, strengthen market and client insight, and reinforce SLGI’s differentiation as a leading investment solutions provider in Canada. It will also build and manage strategic relationships with key partners, asset managers and industry stakeholders to expand capabilities and create new growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction for SLGI’s product portfolio, aligning the roadmap to client needs, market opportunities, growth priorities and enterprise objectives.
- Lead product development for all investment products including mutual funds, ETFs, target date funds, segregated funds, annuities and GICs.
- Lead integrated go-to-market strategies that strengthen SLGI’s brand, deepen advisor and client engagement, and drive profitable growth.
- Elevate SLGI’s market presence by representing the business with credibility, thought leadership and executive presence in industry forums, partner engagements and strategic client conversations.
- Advance an insights-led culture, using analytics, client research and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities, sharpen decisions and improve business outcomes.
- Provide strategic leadership by attracting, developing and retaining a high-performing, diverse team; building succession depth; and fostering an inclusive culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Provide executive leadership for SLGI’s product strategy, roadmap and product shelf management, from opportunity identification through design, development, launch and post-implementation review.
- Drive the development and launch of innovative product solutions that respond to evolving institutional and retail client, advisor and market needs and support sustainable growth.
- Ensure all products are meeting the company’s profitability targets and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the product shelf by recommending product mergers and closures.
- Responsible for all product support for the retail and institutional distribution teams, such as sales concepts and product positioning, understanding competitive landscape and positioning relative to the SLGI product lineup, product training and on-going support on the full breadth of the products offered.
- Ensuring appropriate policies are in place for mutual funds, seg. funds, annuities and ETFs.
- Identify opportunities to mitigate investment and business risk through development and implementation of improved processes and controls.
- Keeping up to speed on industry trends including regulatory.
- Lead SLGI’s marketing, brand and communications strategy, ensuring clear differentiation, consistent positioning and compelling messaging for internal and external audiences.
- Translate market research, client insight and analytics into targeted strategies that position SLGI as an innovator and thought leader in Canadian investment solutions.
- Partner with senior leaders across product, distribution and business development to align marketing strategy to SLGI’s strategic plan and growth objectives.
- Build strong relationships with retail and institutional distribution, business development, advisor-facing teams and enterprise partners to ensure marketing priorities are integrated, commercially relevant and effectively executed.
- Strengthening SLGI’s external profile through executive thought leadership, industry engagement, strategic partnerships and differentiated market-facing content.
- Build, manage and retain strategic relationships with key partners, asset managers and industry stakeholders to enhance SLGI’s capabilities and new market opportunities.
- Identify and develop partnership opportunities that support product innovation, distribution growth and competitive differentiation.
- Leverage external partnerships and industry insights to strengthen SLGI’s product offering and client experience.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent experience; advanced education in business, marketing, analytics or investments would be an asset.
- 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, asset management, wealth, insurance, investment solutions, product strategy, marketing or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver enterprise-level growth initiatives with measurable business impact.
- Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position includes managing both French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.

- 195,000 - 270,000
