About the Role
The Manager of Marketing is responsible for supporting the development of, managing, and executing the organization-wide marketing strategy across various digital channels. This role aims to grow audiences, increase awareness of programs and initiatives, and develop targeted marketing campaigns to advance organizational goals. It oversees campaign planning, execution, audience segmentation, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, content distribution, and performance measurement, working closely with internal teams to translate organizational priorities into integrated campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Manage the development and execution of CEO’s organization-wide marketing strategy across email, social media, paid advertising, search, and other digital channels
- Lead marketing efforts and integrated campaigns that increase awareness and support for CEO’s programmatic, fundraising, advocacy, and organizational goals
- Partner with internal teams to establish campaign objectives, audiences, messages, timelines, budgets, and measures of success
- Manage marketing-related budgets, vendors, consultants, contracts, and scopes of work using internal project management tools such as Monday.com
- Prepare campaign briefs, proposals, presentations, and marketing performance reports for executive leadership, funders, and other key stakeholders
- Lead CEO’s email marketing strategies, including audience growth, segmentation, campaign development, automation, testing, and performance analysis
- Manage the strategy and production of email communications, including newsletters, fundraising appeals, advocacy campaigns, program promotions, and targeted constituent journeys
- Identify and segment priority audiences, including program participants, employers, donors, policymakers, partner organizations, and the general public
- Develop targeted email journeys that engage different audiences and encourage action
- Grow email lists and improve subscriber acquisition, engagement, retention, and conversion
- Establish standards and best practices for email frequency, design, content, accessibility, and CRM/platform integrations, using testing and performance data to improve messaging, targeting, calls to action, and campaign results
- Implement paid advertising and SEM strategies across search, social, display, and digital channels, optimizing budgets and targeting to drive recruitment, fundraising, and awareness
- Oversee CEO’s social media presence, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant platforms, directing platform-specific growth strategies, content calendars, publishing, and audience engagement
- Monitor advertising and social media performance and use insights to strengthen targeting, content, cadence, and spending
- Manage campaign budgets, targeting, content development, placement, testing, optimization, and reporting
- Lead CEO’s search engine marketing and search engine optimization strategies
- Manage CEO’s social media calendar and coordinate content with broader communications and marketing campaigns
- Coordinate marketing activity across CEO’s website, email, social media, paid media, and partner channels to ensure brand consistency and accessibility
- Partner with communications staff and creative vendors to produce high-impact content, advertisements, and landing pages needed for effective campaigns
- Develop distribution strategies that maximize the reach and impact of CEO’s stories, reports, videos, events, and campaign materials
- Ensure that marketing content is accessible, accurate, audience-centered, and consistent with CEO’s messaging and brand standards
- Establish key performance indicators and analyze email, social media, advertising, search, website, and conversion data, communicating performance and translating data into actionable recommendations
- Advise and train CEO staff and local site teams on marketing and social media best practices
- Manage and coach a small team, establishing clear priorities, workflows, performance expectations, and accountability
- Provide opportunities for team to strengthen their marketing, analytics, content-development, and project-management skills
- Manage Emerging Leaders Program members assigned to the marketing track and/or fellows/interns, providing structured, on-the-job training
- Foster a collaborative, creative, inclusive, and results-oriented team culture
- Maintain CEO’s marketing calendar and project management tools
- Coordinate campaign intake, prioritization, production, review, approval, and distribution
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, audience engagement, or related field
- Proven track record planning and executing integrated, multi-channel digital campaigns (email, paid/organic social media, search, display)
- Experience managing organic and paid social media campaigns
- Experience building strategies for audience acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention
- Experience managing search marketing, search engine optimization, landing pages, and digital campaign optimization
- Experience managing marketing budgets, vendors, and contracts
- Strong project management skills and experience with project management platforms
- People management experience (preferred)
- Experience in nonprofit, workforce-development, economic-mobility, or criminal-justice sector or marketing nonprofit programs, social-impact initiatives, direct services, or technology products (preferred)
- Experience with Salesforce, marketing automation, or fundraising platforms (preferred)
- Experience with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, or similar platforms (preferred)
