About the Role
Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome substance use and behavioral health disorders through treatment, training, and tools for building healthy lives. This part-time role focuses on providing music therapy and recreational activities to residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervised, highly structured music-related indoor recreational activities to residents.
- Plan and prepare music lessons tailored to resident needs.
- Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources.
- Teach music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to residents.
- Motivate residents and encourage progress.
- Maintain communication with program management by assessing pupils' abilities, providing feedback, and submitting required documentation.
- Maintain and secure all music equipment.
- Interact with staff, clients, students, and visitors courteously, professionally, and respectfully.
- Produce accurate, neat, and thorough work.
- Prioritize and plan work time efficiently, managing competing demands and unexpected events.
- Understand and comply with agency policies and procedures.
- Support a positive work atmosphere by getting along with clients, students, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in role and function.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries, ethics, and professionalism, complying with agency and professional codes of ethics.
- Seek supervision when challenges arise.
