About the Role
Responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport students to off-center appointments and other destinations as assigned. This is a part-time, on-call position with a flexible schedule, available any day or night.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate the center's vehicles to transport students to and from off-center appointments and other destinations as assigned.
- Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports including passenger numbers, trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Assist the Safety/Transportation Supervisor with routine safety duties, including student interactions.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Skills
- Good working knowledge of basic vehicle operation
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle safety practices
- Experience with visual inspection and maintenance of vehicles
- Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations
- Strong attention to detail
- Good decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills; both verbal and written
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Ability to relate to and have empathy for students
- Ability to work irregular or varying work schedules
- Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Fluently read, write, and communicate in English
- Hear and speak to express ideas and/or exchange information in person or over the telephone
- See to read road maps, road signs, labels, posters, documents, PC screens, etc.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
- Kneel, bend at the waist, stoop, and reach overhead
- Retrieve and store files and supplies
- Occasionally carry and/or lift light objects

- $17.75 (non-CDL)
- $22.50 (CDL with Passenger Endorsement)
