About the Role

Responsibilities include the research, design, development, analysis, operation, and support of high-performance computing (HPC) and data science research, software, tools, and hardware resources. The role also involves developing data algorithms, performing computations, statistical analyses, and interpreting/reporting research findings. This specialty is for positions primarily focused on research, utilizing computational and data science technology as a tool.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, development, analysis, operation, and support of high performance computing (HPC) and data science research, software, tools and hardware resources.
  • Develops data algorithms and performs computations, statistical analyses, interpretation and reporting of research.
  • Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees.
  • Functions as advisor to unit and administration.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge.
  • Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Oversees team of research and technical staff performing highly complex HPC / Data / CI research, technology and software development.
  • Provides direction to staff, according to established policies and management guidance, to achieve research and technology goals.
  • Provide priority setting and research and technology workflow analysis.
  • Reviews and approves recommendations for HPC / Data / CI research, development and technology programs and initiatives.
