About the Role
Supports licensed psychologists and neuropsychologists by administering, scoring, and documenting psychological and neuropsychological assessments in compliance with California Board of Psychology requirements. The role contributes to patient care, research, program development, and clinic operations while ensuring strict confidentiality, accuracy, and standardization. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
Responsibilities
- Administer psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
- Score psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
- Document psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
- Ensure compliance with California Board of Psychology requirements.
- Contribute to patient care, research, program development, and clinic operations.
- Ensure strict confidentiality, accuracy, and standardization.
- Communicate behavioral observations in writing.
- Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- Work independently and as part of a team, accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
- Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
- Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
- Make timely referrals for specialized evaluations, programs, and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology or in education with specialization in Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology.
- 2 years recent relevant experience.
- Registration as a Psychological Testing Technician with the California Board of Psychology (or eligibility to register within 90 days of hire; successful registration required within 6 months).
Skills
- Basic understanding of common neurological conditions and their relationship to neuropsychological assessment.
- Knowledge of various principles, procedures, views, and equipment used in the treatment of patients with varying disorders.
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Working knowledge of available specialized treatment centers including mental health and substance abuse services and facilities.
- Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), databases and psychometric tools.
