About the Role
The Department of Cell & Systems Biology in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Systems Neurophysiology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Pursue innovative and independent research.
- Establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
- Be assigned a teaching and service load.
Requirements
- Must have earned a PhD degree in Biology or a related area by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Systems Neurophysiology.
- Research and teaching interests should address fundamental questions in Systems Neurophysiology that complement and enhance existing departmental strengths.
- Provide evidence of research excellence through publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications, research statement, conference presentations, awards, and strong referee endorsements.
- Provide evidence of teaching excellence through teaching accomplishments, teaching dossier, and strong letters of reference.
- Teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters.

- CAD $125,000-175,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
