About the Role
The RME Operator (RMEO) role supports the RME team in day-to-day work, with no former electrical or mechanical experience required. The RMEO learns to maintain and repair conveyance systems, material handling equipment, and site-specific building technologies, collaborating with the technical team to ensure system uptime through proactive maintenance, monitoring, and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Following safe work practices while performing preventive maintenance checks on a variety of equipment
- Replacing spare parts on equipment following standard operation procedures
- Using a laptop/tablet for managing work orders
- Using basic workshop tools
- Learning to maintain and repair conveyance systems, material handling equipment, and site-specific building technologies
- Ensuring system uptime through proactive maintenance, monitoring, and strong technical problem-solving skills
- Carrying out basic maintenance tasks on a wide range of equipment
- Performing equipment inspections
- Clearing jams
- Replacing parts in accordance with maintenance manuals
- Performing testing while adhering to safety regulations and policies
Requirements
- One year of experience as a Blue Badge Amazon Employee
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- 1+ years of technical problem-solving experience
- Experience with mechanical systems
- Experience with electrical systems
- Ability to reach overhead, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders, use an aerial lift, and frequently lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment
- Ability to perform tasks wearing appropriate or required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Regularly required to crouch or bend and reach to install/move equipment
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work, averaging 6 to 12 miles per day
- Work in a warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures
- Regularly required to type on a computer for 1-2 hours per day
