About the Role
The Sr. Manager, Strategic Investments will be a key member of the Machinery Division’s strategic investment team, supporting ITOCHU International Inc.’s growth agenda. This role blends management consulting strategy, principal investment analysis, and M&A process management to drive growth through new and existing investments.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership, business departments, subsidiaries, industry participants, and external advisors to identify, screen, and prioritize investment opportunities.
- Develop market maps, investment themes, target screens, strategic rationales, and outreach materials.
- Monitor industry, competitive, technology, regulatory, and capital-markets developments and provide recommendations.
- Lead day-to-day evaluation and execution workstreams for various strategic transactions.
- Build, review, and maintain integrated financial models, valuation analyses, and return scenarios.
- Assess strategic fit, market attractiveness, competitive positioning, business-model quality, management capabilities, key risks, and value-creation potential.
- Plan and coordinate diligence workstreams with internal specialists and external advisors.
- Support transaction structuring, bid strategy, management presentations, negotiation of terms, financing, documentation, regulatory processes, and closing.
- Support the development and coordination of investment committee, board, and internal approval materials.
- Manage approval timelines, decision gates, stakeholder inputs, and follow-up actions.
- Present analyses and recommendations to senior executives.
- Lead strategic and financial reviews of subsidiaries and investments.
- Work with subsidiary management teams to translate investment theses into strategic plans and value-creation initiatives.
- Support post-close integration and 100-day planning.
- Evaluate subsidiary pipeline focus and new-business initiatives.
- Structure ambiguous problems into clear workplans and manage concurrent workstreams.
- Direct and review the work of analysts, associates, consultants, and cross-functional team members.
- Build trusted relationships with subsidiary executives, internal functional leaders, and external parties.
- Improve investment processes, analytical tools, and institutional knowledge.
