About the Role
The Greenwich House Center for Resiliency and Wellness is seeking a DFTA Geriatric Mental Health (DGMH) Therapist to provide embedded, on-site behavioral health services to adults 60+ at DFTA Older Adult Centers. Services include structured and unstructured engagement, and short- and long-term behavioral health services integrating creative arts. The role requires awareness of life stages, aging, trauma-informed care, domestic violence issues, and LGBTQ+ and communities of color. Responsibilities
- Provide long and short-term psychotherapy to clients and collateral family members, including crisis intervention, in person or via Telehealth, in compliance with NYS OMH criteria.
- Facilitate time-limited and ongoing group therapies and structured engagement presentations.
- Utilize concurrent clinical documentation in electronic health records (eCR) and data entry (VIVE) in compliance with NYS Office of Mental Health, Dept for the Aging, and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene requirements.
- Alert the Director immediately of reportable incidents and clients at risk.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
- Interact with all levels of personnel within the organization.
Requirements
- LCSW/LMHC/LMSW (New York State Department of Education) with a minimum of two or three years of clinical counseling experience.
- Strong engagement skills and knowledge of age-related life stages, mental health conditions, and harm reduction recovery.
- Openness to integrating creative arts.
- Experience with adult mental health (60+), knowledge of the aging process, and life transitions.
- Awareness of Domestic/Intimate Partner/Gender-based Violence issues, as well as GLBTQ/gender non-binary or questioning communities, and communities of color.
- Familiarity with a range of therapeutic interventions: trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, creative arts, and psychodynamic approaches.
- Alignment with agency standards of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize and implement a course of action for handling multiple tasks.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, or Korean are a plus, but not required.
