About the Role

The Account Director will manage and build relationships with agency clients and partners, fostering an environment for the delivery of a strong, efficient, and creative product. This role oversees the smooth delivery of communication platforms and executions, with a focus on business acumen, mentorship, and growth within the financial sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an Account Supervisor and their operations in partnership with a peer Account Director.
  • Build strong client relationships and grow agency value with all clients.
  • Provide strong leadership on creative development across various media, from concept to execution, in partnership with a Planner and Creative Director.
  • Communicate and negotiate creative concepts and strategies clearly and convincingly with clients.
  • Oversee the integrity of approved communication ideas across multi-media channels, including external agency relationships.
  • Resolve issues collaboratively to build rapport and strengthen trust with client teams.
  • Use proven skills to positively drive clients and the agency creatively and strategically.
  • Ensure timely project completion for clients, on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee clients’ annual budgets, identify issues, and troubleshoot.
  • Proactively identify client needs and unique business opportunities.
  • Track and report hours.
  • Manage upwards to the business lead.
  • Provide feedback and counseling to account staff to help meet objectives and promote career growth.
  • Occasional travel is required.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of account management experience.
  • Significant agency experience in client relationship management and team management.
  • Collaborative and confident approach to creative projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities with an aptitude for developing and maintaining long-term business relationships.
  • Accountability and a calm, confident presence.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to read people and group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of creative processes and production for integrated campaigns.
  • Experience in lower funnel and digital-first/social-first productions (e.g., in-store, event collateral, acquisition banners).
  • Track record of ensuring client retention and facilitating growth with large accounts.
  • Experience in negotiation and meeting client requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of budgeting and progress reports.
  • Understanding of time tracking and hour reconciliation processes.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to motivate people.
  • Strong understanding of various communication research approaches.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
