About the Role
HSBC Asset Management (AM) is seeking an Associate Director for its Direct Lending business, focusing on originating and managing investments in UK and European lower and core mid-market loans. This role involves analyzing new transactions, conducting due diligence, executing deals, and managing the investment portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Occupy a senior role within the Investment Team focused on origination of new investment opportunities in the UK and Europe.
- Lead the assessment and analysis of Private Credit transactions for recommendation to the Investment Committee and the ongoing monitoring of the portfolio.
- Build strong relationships with financial sponsors, advisers, management teams, and HSBC Bank origination professionals.
- Review information memoranda, business plans, and third-party due diligence reports for new transactions.
- Build and test assumptions of financial models provided for new transactions.
- Manage the transaction documentation process in conjunction with HSBC Bank and/or external stakeholders.
- Provide ongoing oversight of investments post-completion, including involvement in investments showing signs of stress or distress.
Requirements
- Relevant experience at an Associate Director level in Private Credit/Lending and/or Leveraged Finance with some exposure to mid-market lending is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge of supporting deal origination, including reviewing information memoranda, business plans, and 3rd party due diligence is essential.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and information and create easily digestible content, reports, and presentations for varied audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engender a ‘Trusted Advisor’ status.
- Strong analytical skills, including working with financial models and understanding investment appraisal fundamentals.

- The team consists of 21 investment professionals and 5 product development professionals located in London, Zurich, and New York.
