About the Role
The Resource Center program helps low-income individuals and families access and receive entitlements, benefits, and resources. This role engages through outreach, screens, and assists clients in applying for government benefits and makes referrals to support services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct benefit screenings for low-income individuals and families.
- Assist clients in applying for benefits from local, state, and federal agencies.
- Interview clients to assess social service needs and make appropriate referrals.
- Serve as an advocate for and liaison between clients and community organizations/government agencies.
- Assist clients seeking new housing opportunities by completing applications and referring them to appropriate agencies.
- Help keep clients in their homes through assistance programs and eviction prevention measures.
- Maintain detailed case notes and track outcomes for services rendered.
- Assist with data collection, input, and reporting.
- Collaborate on outreach efforts to engage tenants.
- Support the coordination of on and off-site activities, visits, and workshops.
- Support the organizing of events and capacity-building activities for community building.
- Represent the Resource Center at community events and meetings.
- Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training programs, and supervision meetings.
- Participate in program evaluation and improvement.
- Work as a member of a team and respond with flexibility to program changes.
- Assist in maintaining program office space and assisting clients.
- Collaborate on marketing efforts to engage tenants.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Able to use or learn electronic databases such as Single Stop.
Skills
- Experience working with low-income populations.
- Knowledge of government benefits.
- Ability to multi-task & work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team player.
