About the Role
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build an automation-first accounting function, working directly with the CFO. You will design and implement an AI-native general ledger, optimize warehouse funding, and develop a modern loan origination system integrated with a proprietary command center. The role involves end-to-end ownership of daily accounting operations and their subsequent automation, with a focus on creating scalable processes.
Responsibilities
- Own core operations including full-cycle AP/AR, GL accrual accounting, and vendor mapping.
- Manage the monthly close calendar and drive for shorter closing times.
- Handle loan-level accounting and diligence from lock to settlement, including funding reconciliations, warehouse line activity, gain-on-sale, and investor settlement.
- Execute and document internal controls for SOC 1 Type II reporting.
- Partner with the CFO on IT audit design, evidence automation, and audit readiness.
- Build state-level and loan-level production metrics and ad hoc analyses.
- Deliver board- and lender-ready outputs.
- Identify and automate manual tasks across the GL, LOS, warehouse funding, and command center systems.
- Make independent judgments on classification, accrual, and process questions, escalating with recommendations.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of progressive experience with operational mortgage or structured credit depth.
- Experience with loan-level accounting in areas such as private credit funds, whole-loan trading, aggregation shops, or mortgage originator capital markets/accounting groups.
- Command of relevant FASB codifications including ASC 310/320/860, ASC 820/825, ASC 815, and CECL.
- Demonstrated rigor and a top-university record.
- Proven operator with experience owning a close, an audit, or a system implementation.
- Enthusiasm for AI-native tooling and automating tasks.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to grind and deliver outcomes without direction.
