About the Role
Design and develop space-based optomechanical systems and/or mechanical support equipment with interfaces to precision composite structures for spacecraft payloads.
Responsibilities
- Complete optomechanical performance, manufacturing, and reliability assessments.
- Develop mechanical assembly definitions and technical specifications with supporting trade studies.
- Document recommendations for presentation, review, and approval.
- Develop design concepts.
- Support drawing creation, assign and evaluate tolerances, and drive drawing releases.
- Participate in cross-functional teams of engineers and designers.
- Investigate solutions to product or process problems.
- Provide technical oversight of suppliers and develop mechanical ICD/specification.
- Obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or minimum of 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
- 1+ years experience with CAD design.
- 1+ years experience with finite element analysis.
