About the Role
The Personalization team enhances music and podcast discovery through features like Blend and Discover Weekly. We are seeking a senior applied research scientist to develop state-of-the-art generative conversational speech-to-speech models, collaborating with engineering teams to advance production pipelines and push the boundaries of speech technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and experiment with new methods for speech synthesis and speech recognition, including end-to-end approaches.
- Expand speech use-cases for different markets and products.
- Contribute to building and creating models at scale for the Spotify platform.
- Champion best practices for research and development, sharing knowledge within the Speak team.
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams on infrastructure, data quality, and product development for speech recognition and synthesis.
Requirements
- Strong background in ML, with a PhD degree and professional experience.
- Experience with transformers, GANs, diffusion models, flow matching, VAEs, or audio codecs.
- Experience developing generative models for speech synthesis, speech recognition, audio/music, NLP, or computer vision.
- Strong proficiency in Python, particularly PyTorch.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Experience conducting high-quality research in an academic or professional setting.
