About the Role
As Educational Coordinator, you will be responsible for the overall planning and execution of an after-school program for children living in homeless shelters and low-income permanent housing. You will manage and direct a comprehensive program of afterschool development including assessment, linkage to health, educational, and recreational programs, and other services to assist families with their children.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum for after-school and summer program activities.
- Develop a weekly and annual calendar of events for the department.
- Conduct outreach, enrollment, and interviews with families within HELP USA’s transitional and permanent housing sites and throughout the East New York Community.
- Supervise on-site afterschool activities and provide homework and tutorial assistance.
- Monitor and manage after-school staff and volunteers.
- Conduct regular staff supervision.
- Develop and nurture community relationships to facilitate free and inexpensive resources.
- Utilize community resources in program implementation.
- Encourage child and family use of community resources.
- Oversee the purchase of necessary food supplies and classroom equipment.
- Monitor enrollment and utilization rates.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with school-age children.
- Knowledge of recreational/community resources.
- Valid US driver’s license.
- Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.

- 2:00pm-7:00pm Monday-Friday
Education Level
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or associate’s degree plus 7 years of experience in educational management.
Salary/Compensations
- Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
