About the Role

Create and implement the technical elements of game features, collaborating with other technical designers, programmers, and colleagues from other disciplines. Design and implement new game modes, quests, AI, and events, iterating on features to a shippable state and maintaining content post-launch. Provide mentorship to Junior Technical Designers, teaching scripting best practices and Evolution Engine.

Responsibilities

  • Game mode / Mission / Quest / Event design and implementation
  • AI design and implementation
  • Assist other designers with reproducing and fixing bugs
  • Collaborate with other departments to fulfill scripting needs
  • Be willing and available for firefighting
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by getting involved with all departments, understanding their roles and interacting with the team on a regular basis to help gain a rounded perspective of the project
  • Mentor Junior Technical Designers
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in game design/development
  • A university or college degree in computer science, game design/development, or equivalent game development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting language
  • Basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Good communication & problem solving skills
