About the Role

Investigates, determines liability, confirms coverage, establishes damages, and negotiates settlement of claims. Will also be required to maintain an active adjusters license in states where required.

Responsibilities

Investigates, confirms coverage, determines liability, establishes damages, reports status and negotiates the settlement of assigned cases.
Adjusts all types of claims.
Inspects damaged property and vehicles, and determines claims related damage.
Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property and vehicles.
Determines and reports on subrogation potential.
Initiates the sale of salvage vehicles, personal property, and miscellaneous salvage items.
Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
Performs most duties on an individual basis, and work has a direct bearing on Management results.
Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.
Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must reside in the hiring territory (Binghamton, NY Territory: 81 Corridor from Binghamton north to Cardiff).
Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
Must be bondable.
Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will be required to travel away from their residence for a specified period of time, usually consisting of 2-3 days.
Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. Section 1033, Farmers is prohibited from employing any individual who has been convicted of any criminal felony involving dishonesty or a breach of trust without prior written consent from the state Department of Insurance.

Experience Level

Minimum of one year of prior claims or two years of related industry experience for external candidates.
Successful demonstration/completion of the Senior Claims Representative prerequisites, proficiencies, and exams, as required based on unit assignment.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Outside insurance education (CPCU, GCA) preferred.

Salary/Compensations

Hourly wage with potential overtime opportunities based on business needs and claim volume.
Compensation may be adjusted upward based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
Opportunity to earn additional hourly compensation and overtime pay during CAT deployment assignments.
