About the Role
The Industrial Engineer will collaborate with production, engineering, and manufacturing teams to implement lean manufacturing systems, analyze throughput data for performance improvement, and prepare standardized work for new product launches. They will also drive continuous improvement projects in a steady-state environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate problem-solving activities on the plant floor with multi-departmental resources.
- Support in-plant tryouts, process changes, and implementation plans to resolve ergonomic issues.
- Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques.
- Analyze plant bottlenecks by examining throughput data and collaborate with the floor to eliminate them.
- Analyze existing operations and propose cost-justified improvements.
- Optimize the utilization of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.
- Assist in planning new facilities, operations, and/or relocations.
- Provide information for various management systems.
- Engage in regular communication with external stakeholders.
- Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping practices.
- Recommend changes to workstations, labor, and layouts to reduce waste and cost per car.
- Collaborate with production, manufacturing engineering, and engineering teams to establish lean workstation setups and standardized work.
- Establish execution plans for job completion and/or projects.
- Coordinate input from internal and external customers to understand their needs and perceptions.
- Stay updated on current product developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Actively identify new learning opportunities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of MGO and part routings.
- Respond to supplier and engineering inquiries.
- Complete special projects and scenarios as needed.
- Support floor readiness for SORP.
Requirements
- Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
- 1+ years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment or equivalent.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills.
- High level of analytical ability.
