About the Role
The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring a great guest and colleague experience by maintaining the building, its equipment, and all physical assets.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot equipment, systems, and facilities, performing repairs such as painting, wallpaper repair, tub and sink repair, outlet and bulb replacement, woodworking, concrete, and tile repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms and equipment, including laundry equipment, HVAC units, ice machines, spa equipment, fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alarms, lawn sprinklers, kitchen appliances, and plumbing, adhering to manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.
- Conduct swimming pool and spa maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and local Health Department Regulations.
- Assist with seasonal outdoor work, including lawn mowing and snow removal.
- Maintain cleanliness of the engineering shop and other work areas.
- Log readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units as required.
- Communicate room status changes with Front Desk and Housekeeping.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Fire Alarms/Life Safety Systems and manage emergencies involving these systems.
- Assist other departments with moving furniture and unloading/storing supplies.
- Provide safe transportation to guests using the hotel shuttle vehicle when needed.
Requirements
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- 3 to 6 months of related experience in engineering and maintenance or a related area.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work as part of a team and complete tasks individually.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Solid organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
