About the Role
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Structural Project Manager to join our Structural Engineering team in Austin, TX. This role involves managing project schedules and budgets, overseeing project engineers, and maintaining client contact to ensure project goals are met. The position supports various structural design projects including new construction, additions, and renovations.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary point of contact for Principals and design team.
- Attend project meetings with Architects, Owners, and Contractors.
- Manage project schedule, activities, and budget.
- Work with Structural Director to manage client accounts.
- Identify scope of work exceedances and notify client.
- Communicate additional service requests to Structural Director.
- Communicate project milestones and schedule updates to Structural Director.
- Invoice work as milestones are completed.
- Review time and cost for projects.
- Maintain project phases within accounting software.
- Identify un-billed time and coordinate billing with Structural Director and client.
- Maintain CA billing on a monthly basis.
- Supervise and manage the work of Project Engineers, Graduate Engineers, and Interns.
- Develop specific tasks for resource allocation.
- Provide guidance for unconventional conditions.
- Coordinate with technical staff to employ internal drawings templates.
- Ensure calculations and details are in accordance with relevant codes.
- Review structural drawings for foundation and framing layout, coordination, and inclusion of standard notes and details.
- Review drawing packages prepared by Project Engineers.
- Act as Project Engineer as required.
- Edit and compile relevant specification sections.
- Manage all construction administration tasks including submittals, shop drawings, RFIs and review of testing reports.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in building structural design.
- P.E. required.
- Relevant continuing education courses showing annual advancement of career.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of structural design software such RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS, etc.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new software and client needs.
- Understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles.
- Light gauge experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of current building and material design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
