About the Role
The General Superintendent for our EPC Utility-Scale Solar division is responsible for multi-level project and personnel supervision, requiring close coordination of subcontractors and suppliers. This role involves overseeing multiple Superintendents and Senior Superintendents and their projects and field crews.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the review of all project schedules with Project Directors, Vice President of Pre-Construction, and project management teams.
- Delegate orientation of assigned Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen to outline project duties.
- Coordinate all Superintendent assignments, including staffing, and advise on scheduling, submittals, and quality control.
- Confirm notification of subcontractors and suppliers to review project schedules.
- Monitor potential changes to contract, project conditions, and scope of work, providing documentation as requested.
- Advise the Vice President/Area Manager and/or Project Manager of possible claims or disputes.
- Oversee the submission of required company documents by Superintendents and/or Foremen.
- Administer personnel issues of subordinates, including conflict mediation and resolution.
- Consult with the Vice President/Area Manager regarding layoffs/termination.
- Demonstrate and promote positive attitudes, respectful communication, and adherence to intra-company communication channels.
- Clarify and enforce corporate and project-specific policies and procedures.
- Obtain daily production information and distribute it weekly to the Construction Manager.
- Monitor jobsite production rates to ensure bid productions and strategy are met.
- Track the project schedule and inform the Project Manager of progress.
- Discuss project equipment schedule projections with the Project Manager.
- Attend all project Owner meetings.
- Submit required information for pay application preparation.
- Review job cost reports with the Project Manager to ensure accuracy and address deviations.
- Attend project close-out meetings as requested.
- Set employee expectations for personal development and succession planning.
- Monitor all daily activities of assigned projects.
- Provide direction and oversight to Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foreman regarding specific project duties.
- Consult with Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen on daily needs for manpower, equipment, layout, materials, and sub-contractors.
- Discuss manpower and equipment requirements, shortages, or changes with the Construction Manager.
- Coordinate daily line-up information for all assigned projects and report to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on needs for field survey/engineering/GPS files.
- Recognize equipment abuse and provide guidance to project superintendents, foremen, field maintenance personnel, and hourly employees.
- Implement and comply with the company safety program.
- Communicate safety and compliance concerns to the Area Safety Director.
- Report all incidents and/or accidents to the Area Safety Director and Project Manager immediately.
- Complete post-accident/incident reports and forward them to the Safety Director.
- Facilitate and record weekly toolbox talks and complete required project safety and compliance forms.
- Perform daily safety jobsite walk-arounds and complete necessary documents.
Requirements
- Ability to understand detailed construction projects plans, schedules, and estimates.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to calculate square footage, volumes, and percentages using a personal computer or calculator.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare and update project schedules, transmittals, and submittals using personal computer software.
- Ability to manage large groups of personnel.
- Ability to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management with little or no supervision.
