About the Role
This unpaid internship offers hands-on, educational experience in collegiate athletics operations at the United States Military Academy. Interns will gain exposure to a Division I athletic department supporting 30 varsity programs, focusing on learning, professional development, and career exploration in college athletics.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and setup of game day tailgate areas.
- Help organize tables, signage, décor, catering areas, guest amenities, and other event materials.
- Support event-day check-in and guest arrival processes.
- Assist with guest questions and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help monitor event spaces throughout the tailgate and ensure they remain clean, organized, and guest-ready.
- Assist with food and beverage, hospitality, and guest experience operations as directed.
- Support breakdown and cleanup following events.
- Work with staff, vendors, volunteers, and other event partners to ensure a smooth guest experience.
- Assist with preparation and execution of private hospitality events and special events.
- Support room and event-space setup according to event specifications.
- Assist with guest registration, greeting, wayfinding, and general event support.
- Help coordinate event materials, supplies, signage, and guest amenities.
- Assist department staff with vendor and catering coordination.
- Observe and participate in event timelines, run-of-show execution, and on-site problem solving.
- Support post-event breakdown, inventory, and organization.
- Assist with other special events and hospitality initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be a current college student.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a multi-task setting.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong listening skills.
- Work collaboratively with others in a professional, team-oriented environment.
- Be flexible to observe and participate in learning experiences during evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Show initiative, reliability, and a positive attitude while assisting on a wide range of supervised projects.
