About the Role
Our Pulmonary Medicine office is hiring a full-time Patient Support Specialist to join their team. The hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm, with Fridays once every 3 weeks from 8:00am-4:00pm. The ideal candidate will have superior customer service skills, preferably in the medical field. This position was formerly known as a Medical Secretary.
Responsibilities
- Greeting and checking in patients upon arrival.
- Processing incoming telephone calls and messages according to office policy.
- Scheduling patient appointments following office protocols.
- Scheduling follow-up appointments as directed by providers or indicated on encounter forms.
- Obtaining patient signatures on appropriate waivers per insurance requirements.
- Organizing and monitoring the provider's daily schedule.
- Maintaining timely patient flow.
- Verifying and updating patient insurance coverage and demographic information at each visit.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous clerical experience in a medical practice preferred.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures preferred.
- Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, family members, physicians, providers, managers, co-workers, and external customers.
