About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to plan and coordinate outreach activities for New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Developments. This role involves working with residents and stakeholders to ensure proper notification, gather resident input, and provide briefings on program status, relocation, and construction.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute multi-stakeholder meetings related to Project Pre-Planning/Procurement, Design/Relocation, and Construction.
- Coordinate and provide regular communication regarding resident questions and concerns.
- Conduct resident engagement through phone calls, flyer distribution, and door-to-door canvassing.
- Schedule regular updates for stakeholders, Tenant Associations, and residents.
- Present at meetings and workshops.
- Solicit updates from construction and relocation teams to share with residents.
- Ensure outreach materials are informative, easily digestible, and translated.
Requirements
- BA/BS or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Two plus years of demonstrated engagement skills with disadvantaged populations.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, and diplomatically.
- Knowledge of New York City public housing, stakeholder engagement strategies, and working with city/state/federal elected officials.
- Experience working with disadvantaged and non-English speaking populations.
- Experience working in and around construction sites with basic knowledge of construction phases, procurement, design, and terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Proficiency in e-Builder construction project management software.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Must be able to work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding.
