About the Role

Provides direct support and serves as a role model, advocate, and teacher for individuals, focusing on their well-being and independence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the wellbeing of individuals, respecting their emotional and physical needs.
  • Provides training, supervision, and assistance with daily living skills to promote independence.
  • Facilitates community integration and inclusion based on individual interests.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Staff Action Plans, including documentation.
  • Maintains a clean, pleasant, and nurturing environment.
  • Transports individuals using agency vehicles, adhering to all transportation guidelines.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and a caring attitude in addressing new situations.
  • Complies with agency and OPWDD regulations and policies.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Performs physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, and bending.
  • Assesses individuals visually and auditorily.
  • Performs SCIP-R duties and functions.
  • Works with household cleaning agents.
  • Works outdoors in temperate weather and drives in inclement weather.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and must maintain it in good standing.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
  • Must be approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) at time of hire or will be completely trained and certified by the agency within the first six months of employment.
