About the Role

We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and high-energy attorney to join our Business Law division. This role will provide legal counsel to Allstate’s mobility data and telematics business unit (Arity), advising its marketing solutions business on commercial agreements, product counseling, and related matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time, strategic legal counsel on business matters, including product development, marketing, sales, and emerging technologies.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, particularly those involving advertising, marketing, and data service arrangements.
• Advise on legal risk management and evolving regulatory landscapes in technology, commercial contracts, privacy, and consumer protection.
• Collaborate across business units, policy, compliance, and legal teams to contribute to enterprise-wide strategies.
• Anticipate legal issues and offer practical, innovative solutions in dynamic business environments.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and assess the impact of emerging laws or regulations on business activities.
• Foster alignment between business goals and legal frameworks in regulated industries.
• Navigate ambiguity and help shape emerging business models and opportunities.
• Contribute to a culture of open dialogue and collaborative problem solving.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate and active bar membership in good standing.
• A minimum of 7 years of legal experience, ideally within a law firm or the in-house legal department of a mid- to large-sized organization.
• Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas: commercial law, privacy, advertising/marketing law, technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property.
• Experience working within a corporate parent company and across a family of affiliated entities.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on collaboration, team development, mentoring, and strategic guidance.
• Executive presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience managing departmental or legal budgets.
• Solid project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and deliver across multiple workstreams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant legal or business technology tools.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
• High business acumen, including the ability to assess and communicate legal risk in a commercial context and contribute to the development of business cases and return-on-investment evaluations.
• Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating.
• Reliable internet is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
