About the Role
River Valley is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their Information Technology team. This role is crucial for developing and supporting the technology that drives the business. You will collaborate with IT team members and business users to create new features, improve existing applications, and resolve software and data challenges across enterprise systems. This position offers the chance to engage in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications using C# and .NET, including new functionality and enhancements.
- Design and support .NET-based service integrations, including WCF/SOAP services, REST APIs, third-party API integrations, SQL Server-backed business services, and interfaces between ERP, warehouse management, EDI, and internal business applications.
- Develop interactive application solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio and related development tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software bugs, application issues, and data-related problems.
- Support and maintain existing applications to ensure system performance and availability.
- Develop and maintain SQL Server procedures, functions, views, and queries.
- Develop and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Work directly with users to understand and document requirements for new functionality and enhancements.
- Perform technical analysis and translate business requirements into effective software solutions.
- Test application changes and resolve software defects to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for software applications.
- Prioritize and manage multiple development and support activities based on business needs and deadlines.
- Collaborate with IT team members and business users to develop, implement, and support software solutions.
Requirements
- Professional experience developing and supporting software applications in a business or enterprise environment.
- Experience developing C# applications with significant database integration.
- Experience with T-SQL scripting and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing and testing enterprise software solutions.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging software applications.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with IT team members and business users.
