About the Role
The Testing and Education Counselor is responsible for conducting enhanced outreach and education, HIV/STI/HCV testing, and implementing activities that address Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). This role aims to improve program quality and effectiveness to meet annual objectives and increase community outreach in underserved populations.
Responsibilities
- Assists with development of the annual outreach plan, including social media strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Promotes and administers HIV/STI/HCV testing on site and at community outreach events.
- Educates and refers participants to PEP, PrEP, HIV/STI/HCV testing and treatment, care coordination, and HIV and Primary Medical care.
- Assists participants with appointment reminders and accompanies them to appointments as needed.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, or extensive relevant experience with approval.
- Personal or professional experience with HIV/MSM communities.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Spanish is a plus).
- Must maintain a current and valid NYS driver's license.
- Ability to travel between locations for community outreach and program events.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations.
