About the Role
Penske Truck Leasing seeks a Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) responsible for vehicle delivery and returns. This part-time, on-call position offers supplemental income for CDL Class A or B drivers, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destination of Penske location or customer locations
- Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order, and report any issues to the location manager
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment
Requirements
- 2 years of driving experience required
- 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
- Valid Class B CDL required
- Must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
- Ability to read and follow written instructions is required
- Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required
- English language proficiency is required
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual MVR check, DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records
- Must complete a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and be subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review
- Willingness to work the required schedule and at the specific location
- Must complete Penske employment application
- Ability to pass a drug screen and physical as required by the Department of Transportation
- Potential travel within a near geography for training is required
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required
- Ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others
- Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle and its cargo area
