About the Role
As a Political Canvasser, you'll play a critical role in the democratic process through face-to-face voter engagement. Canvassers will conduct door-to-door voter outreach across New York State Senate District 44 and may receive assignments in different communities throughout the district.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person voter outreach through door-to-door canvassing throughout New York State Senate District 44
- Travel to and canvass in different communities within the district based on daily and weekly program assignments
- Deliver persuasive, accurate messaging about candidates and ballot initiatives
- Record daily voter contact data and submit reports to program leadership
- Consistently meet or exceed outreach and engagement goals
- Represent North Shore Strategies with professionalism and integrity
- Attend trainings and team meetings to stay aligned on strategy and talking points
- Build positive relationships with voters to strengthen community trust
Requirements
- Able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week when a program is active
- Excellent verbal communication skills and comfort engaging strangers
- Reliable, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable conducting door-to-door canvassing throughout NY Senate District 44, rather than working exclusively in one city or neighborhood
- Willing and able to canvass outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
- Prior experience in canvassing, sales, customer service, or community organizing is a plus, but not required
- Strong belief in progressive values and civic participation
- Capable of meeting deadlines and performance targets
