About the Role

The Contract Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance and physical condition of Ecuhome properties, ensuring they meet Ecuhome standards and comply with all relevant regulations. The role also involves providing maintenance services to tenants to enhance their quality of life.

Responsibilities

Maintain the quality of Ecuhome's housing portfolio.
Perform required maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, janitorial, and mechanical repairs.
Clean and prepare rooms to Ecuhome standards before tenant occupancy.
Stay updated on safety, fire, building code, and other legislative requirements.
Complete monthly fire and other inspections.
Regularly observe property conditions and report any issues to the Property and Maintenance Coordinator.
Participate in identifying preventative and ongoing maintenance needs as part of the maintenance team.
Ensure adherence to established standards and guidelines, such as Fire and Building Codes, and Health and Safety regulations.
Conduct preventative maintenance activities, including regular inspections of grounds, buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances, and major equipment.
Collaborate with tenants and Housing Support Workers to maintain Ecuhome houses and properties, promoting tenant quality of life.
Carry the after-hours emergency pager as scheduled.
Assess emergency situations, respond to calls, and recommend actions to the Coordinator.
Maintain knowledge of utility shut-offs and fire extinguisher locations in all Ecuhome properties.
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ecuhome’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have a reliable vehicle.
High school graduate.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the maintenance of multi-unit residential settings.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in routine maintenance and semi-skilled repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance.
Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.
Demonstrated verbal and written English communication skills.
Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and codes governing housing/building safety.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to positively interact with a tenant population facing mental health and addictions challenges.
This position is in the bargaining unit.
