About the Role
As a member of this interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with other team members to support youth, adults and families at risk of homelessness to maintain safe, appropriate and permanent housing.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with private and non-profit landlords as well as property management companies to support the landlord tenant relationship.
- Mediate tenant-landlord conflicts.
- Inform and support the landlord and tenant regarding their rights and responsibilities.
- Help landlords and tenants understand the Residential Tenancy Act.
- Navigate situations involving the Landlord and Tenant Board.
- Mitigate tenant related risks.
- Develop positive relationships with landlords and educate them about diverse populations to reduce stigma and discrimination.
- Collaborate with team members to educate and entice landlords and property managers to participate in solving homelessness.
- Conduct unit inspections at move-in/out.
- Assess cleaning/repairs required in all units.
- Obtain quotes for repairs.
- Liaise with landlords to verify receipt of rent payments from tenants.
- Prepare and maintain statistical data to identify trends and develop strategies.
- Work with individuals from diverse populations using a trauma-informed approach.
- Support program operations through administrative tasks and community engagement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with diverse populations, including those impacted by mental illness/addictions, systemic injustice, poverty, and homelessness.
- Intermediate / Standard First Aid /CPR with AED - Level C.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle.
- Requires a clear Police Check with vulnerable sector screening.

- Familiarity with local social service systems
- Understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act
- Excellent knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act, housing first and harm reduction philosophy and the local housing market
- Experience using HIFIS 4.0 considered an asset
- Proficient in both official languages of Canada considered an asset
