About the Role

The Quality Control Technician performs routine and intermediate quality inspections under the direction of the Customer Service, Quality Control Supervisor. This role executes standardized quality checks, verifies job setup and production output, and supports corrective actions to ensure mail jobs meet client specifications, USPS requirements, and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and in-process quality inspections during printing, inserting, matching, finishing, and mail preparation.
  • Verify job setup against job tickets, approved samples, and written specifications.
  • Inspect printed materials for clarity, alignment, readability, and accuracy.
  • Verify addresses, personalization, barcodes, and data elements.
  • Confirm correct matching of documents, envelopes, and inserts.
  • Validate enclosure counts, page sequencing, and assembly requirements.
  • Perform basic mail preparation checks for postal compliance, including bundling, tray labeling, and palletization.
  • Verify mailing counts and presort information per job instructions.
  • Assist with review of postal documentation as directed.
  • Identify quality defects, discrepancies, or deviations from specifications.
  • Communicate issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Support corrective actions, rework, or job restarts as instructed.
  • Complete inspection checklists, logs, and production sign-offs accurately.
  • Assist in tracking recurring quality issues and trends.
  • Support training of Quality Control Helpers on inspection procedures.
  • Serve as a technical resource for basic quality questions on the production floor.
  • Participate in quality meetings and improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety procedures and data security requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized inspection area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Quality Control Helper or equivalent.
  • Prior quality control or mail production experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple inspections in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of mail production processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets and quality specifications.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic understanding of postal mailing requirements and terminology.
  • Ability to visually inspect printed materials, barcodes, and variable data.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively in a team.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Basic math skills (counts, quantities, verification).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Maturity, honesty, trust, sensitivity and integrity are a must.
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all employees and maintain effective relationships with all levels in the organization.
  • Able to work onsite at our Hauppauge location 5 days a week a must.
  • Must be flexible with time and willing to work odd hours, including very early mornings, evenings, weekends, and working alternate weekends during peak season and periods.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read English.
