About the Role
Novelis is seeking a Process Engineering Team Lead for its aluminum manufacturing facility in Oswego, NY. This role involves leading a team of process engineers and specialists to optimize continuous heat treatment and pretreatment processes for flat rolled products, ensuring superior quality for customers in the aerospace, automotive, beverage packaging, and specialty markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Process Engineers and Process Specialists, overseeing all aspects of team management, including annual performance review, resource deployment, and growth.
- Serve as an advisor to Process Engineers to meet project timelines and/or resolve technical problems.
- Organize and direct team’s efforts during process upset conditions, leading immediate and long-term problem-solving efforts.
- Assist in formulating and implementing short and long-range goals for the CASH process team.
- Develop and maintain process controls (KPIs, recovery, etc.), identify and execute process improvement opportunities, and collaborate with operations and EMRA groups.
- Maintain quality systems requirements in all areas of responsibility and ensure appropriate documentation is completed.
- Identify areas of improvement in the processing and quality of products within the department.
- Coordinate and/or perform 8D's for all significant failures in the area of responsibility.
- Understand automotive product specifications and ensure the company meets or exceeds customer needs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical role as a process or product engineer in the metals industry.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Solid computer skills with software applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
- Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship.
